Bay Islands Beach Resort hosts as many as 20 wheelchair divers a year and at least 40 more guests who have physical limitations. We built our resort with everyone in mind. The beachfront and beach guest rooms are permanently ramped. The resort meets and exceeds ADA standards, but we are most proud of the modifications made at the suggestions of our guests. As one guest said, "This place is easier for me than my house!" Our dive staff has been trained to work with physically challenged divers.. RESORT: quiet, secluded, located on the western side of the island (less wind). Nice beach, but watch out for sand fleas. They weren't too bad while we were there, but be prepared. Take repellent or buy it there, cactus juice is best for you and for the environment. Hammocks on the beach, palm trees, landscaping is pretty.

Ocean Beach Resort, The Unique Halong Bay Eco Private Island Beach Resort, is located on an island 3 miles east south of Catba island

The resort divided to two separate areas sprawling on two different direction beaches. The beach directed toward Cat Ba town is Sunrise Beach and the other beach directed toward East Sea is Sunset Beach.

All the bungalows made from all-natural materials and everything is designed to compliment each facility and its natural surroundings. Definitely, an idyllic place to recharge frayed nerves, with its cozy ambience of bamboo and hut in its very Vietnamese type accommodation... No concrete is to be seen anywhere.

*Panorama View House:
That is the only one on the top of a hill consist 3 semi-detached rooms with a double bed and a very big sofa which can be use as an extra bed because its size is a single bed size .All these rooms have a private spacious balcony with a splendid view directly to the sea and a quite nice big bathroom in the back makes the room different from anything else.
The room itself is not so big - it gives an incredible intimacy and a couple feels the "jungle" and alots of natural trees around. These rooms have very nice seaview even lying on the bed.
This house is good for couples who want enjoy a silent atmosphere and look at stars at night.

*Beach Front Garden House
Same as Panorama House but it located in the center of the beach 10meter near the restaurant so we think it should be quite suitable for guest with young children. Of course it has its own private toilet and bathroom... And it's own private balcony with great seaview and of course there is a hammock.

*Beach Side House
From the outside it looks similar to Beach Front Garden House and located on the beach site. There are 4 of these houses with 2 rooms on each and each house there are a one double bed room and a two single bed room. Of course it has its own private toilet and bathroom... And it's own private balcony with great sea view else well.

Bantayan island is one of cebu's not so best kept secret. it is located off the northwest of cebu mainland. the island is still not that developed if you compare it to the sprawling island of boracay and bohol so it is definitely not overcrowded and over priced so this place is definitely for people looking for a great beach like boracay but hates the crowd and noise of the island and just want a total relaxation. aside from being a great beach destination the island is also consider as a lenten destination for catholics devotee during the holy week people gather in the town center of the island to witness one of the most solemn holy week procession in the country so reservation to the island during this period is a must. the town of bantayan is also known for its mouth watering dried fish and freshly catch seafoods like squids,lobsters and crabs. and also the island is rich in history and other natural wonders some of the oldest churches in the visaya is situated in the island. now i think thats just enough reason for you to visit the island great beaches great food and i forgot to mention bantayanons are simple hearted and friendly...

Getting There:

To get to bantayan you can take a 30 mins plane ride from cebu city mactan airport via SEA Air(temporary suspended) or you can go by land by taking a bus at north cebu bus terminal traveling by land may take 2 to 3 hours to hagnaya and then take a ferry boat from hagnaya to sta fe where most of the beautiful beach of bantayan is located.

Cat Island may have derived its name from Arthur Catt, the famous British sea captain or notorious pirate (depending on whose side you were on). A competing source for the name are the hordes of wild cats that the English encountered here on arrival in the 1600s. The cats were said to be descendants of their tamer cousins orphaned by the early Spanish colonists in their rush to find the gold of South America.

This boot-shaped, untamed island is one of the most beautiful and fertile of The Bahamas. A lush sanctuary, it provides tranquillity for those seeking an escape from the pressures of modern civilization. Others thought so too, like Father Jerome, a penitent hermit who built a medieval monastery hewn from the limestone cliffs atop 206-foot Mt. Alvernia, a place for meditation. From these high cliffs, there is a marvelous view down to densely-forested foothills and 60 miles of deserted pink-and-white-sand beach.

Cat Island was once home to one of the more prosperous Loyalist colonies of the Out Islands. The island gained its wealth from the numerous cotton plantations established during the 1700s. Now, vine-covered, semi-ruined mansions and stone walls from farms where cattle were penned and pineapples grown, play hide and seek within the tropical flowers, grass and sand. Crumbling remnants of slave villages and artifacts in Arawak caves whisper of a life long past. Descendants of those early settlers remain in the same towns of their ancestors.

Nature and what "the Lord will provide" are the philosophy that people here live by. Cat Islanders are renowned for their ingenuity at using the materials at hand to make whatever they need. For example, musicians combine a piece of wood, some fishing line and a worn tin tub to create the bass instrument in a "rake 'n' scrape" band at a local nightclub. Accompanied by a Conchshell (horn), an old comb covered with paper (harmonica), an old carpenter's saw scraped with a piece of metal, and topped off by a drum that really smokes (goat skins stretched over wood and heated over a flame), Cat Island bands produce a unique sound.

Much of The Bahamas' indigenous music, folklore and myth can be traced to Cat Island. Here, "I'll be with you in spirit" takes on a whole new meaning. Traditionally, when the last of a generation dies, his or her house is left for the spirit to live in. Remaining relatives gather stones from the site and form a new dwelling. Elsewhere, in the north of the island, residents place spindles atop houses to prevent harm from befalling them--a kind of lightning rod for evil spirits.

Berry Island

Berry island was originally an area for local Aboriginal communities to camp and eat. Evidence of the Aboriginal way of life include shell middens and axe grindings which are still visible today. In the early 19th century, this small island was attached to the land of Edward Wollstonecraft by a stone causeway over mud flats (now reclaimed as lawns). After he died the property was passed to his sister and her husband Alexander Berry. It was dedicated as a nature reserve for public recreation in 1926.
Outlook

From Berry Island you look west to Greenwich Point, south to Balmain and Birchgrove, and East to Balls Head Reserve.

Access

If arriving by car, turn off the Pacific Highway at North Sydney at Shirley Road and follow the road to it's very end. There is limited street parking. If arriving by public transport it is a short five to 10 minute walk from Wollstonecraft railway station.

The Gadyan Track

This award-winning bush trail is a 20-minute walk around the island, guided by interpretative signage detailing the island's Aboriginal and European history.

Interest spots

Shell deposits and kitchen middens indicate an earlier Aboriginal presence on the island.
The Sydney Jazz Club holds monthly picnics on the Sunday following the third Friday of the month from 1pm to 4pm (summer) and 12noon - 3pm (winter).

Flora Fauna

The open grass area of Berry Island precedes a small pocket of remnant indigenous bushland. Despite its relatively small size, this is the best-preserved pocket of Hawkesbury Sandstone flora in the whole Council area.

Under the shelter of a canopy of Sydney red gums (Angophora costata) and red mahogany (Eucalyptus resinfera) a path follows the perimeter of this bushland. The island needs minimal maintenance as it has been largely untouched by urban impacts such as runoff, dumping and weed infestation. To prevent fire, drier tree species have been gradually replaced with lusher rainforest or gully species. Truly a special corner of the harbour.

Heritage
Heritage has twelve air-condition rooms that were named after tribes in the Philippines. It has one day bed... a stair going to the attic where the two more beds are located, a bathroom and one toilet which are separated. This building is located at the back so there is no seaview. A big hall called Fiesta Pavilion is on the top floor which can accomodate up to thousand people.

Suite Room
From the outside it looks like something similar to the bungalow deluxe rooms... but inside it is a lot bigger. There is a small sitting area and a bedroom separated by a sliding door. Of course it has it's own private toilet and bathroom... And it's own private balcony and of course there is a hammock.

Family Deluxe Room
All guests with young or older children, we try to give them out family deluxe rooms, there are 4 very large two-floor cottages. 16 family deluxe rooms. These rooms are definitely our luxurious rooms.

Banana Deluxe House
Consists all of one house with only one room, it is very private and in fact there is only one curtain in front out to the big balcony... all these balconies have a splendid view directly to the sea... no door... this together with a quite nice big bathroom in the back makes the room different from anything else. Even the room itself is quite small - it gives an incredible intimacy and a couple feels the "jungle" and the hundreds of Banana palms around. These rooms have very nice seaview.

Super Banana Deluxe
Same as an ordinary Banana House but have an extra little floor attic, for maybe two smaller children or in some cases these houses are good for couples who want to look at stars at night. These houses are the highest at hall in our hills - it might take 15 minutes to go there. Like the Banana House, they are located way up high on the hill.

Filipinos or Asians prefer bigger and more convertible rooms. Mostly we give them the old bungalows - in one bungalow there are two rooms... these are also good for two couples who want to stay near each other. All the Bungalows have also private balcony with a hammock and has seaview. Only 2 rooms are on ground level but quite far from the restaurant.

Standard Room
All the rooms are in one row much like an apartment row. Rooms are quite small but can occupy 4 persons... it has a unique bunk bed... there are actually 3 beds, 1 double bed and 2 single beds... as it is located at the back of the resort near the basketball / tennis court, there is no seaview.

This is an original concept, and practiced exclusively by Coco Beach Island Resort. Somewhere close to your room resides an entire Filipino family.

They are the one who maintains the garden and as soon as you are their guest you become part of their family.

Location
Captain Cook named Fitzroy Island in 1770 in honour of the duke of Grafton, Prime minister of England at the time. The Dukes family name was Fitzroy.

Fitzroy Island is located approx. 35 kilometres (18 nautical miles) south east of Cairns. A ferry ride from the Cairns marina takes approximately 45 minutes. Fitzroy Island is one of 600 Continental or High islands on the Great Barrier Reef. It is located on the inner barrier of the central region of the Great Barrier Reef, and is part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The reef surrounding Fitzroy is known as a fringing reef and is teaming with marine life.

Most of the island's water comes from a natural freshwater spring originating in the Tablelands near Mareeba, and surfacing in the National Park bush behind the main complex.

Resort Facilities
An open terrace restaurant overlooks the cascading pool in an intimate setting for a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner, all of which are included in your tariff.

The menu is varied and changes daily. Breakfast is available from 8.00am, lunch from 1.00pm and dinner from 7.00pm.

Gourmet picnic hampers for beachside outings are available on request daily.

The resort's relaxed lounge features our well known self service open bar which is comprehensively stocked with Australian and imported beers, along with a quality selection of Australian wines, spirits and liqueurs.

The bar is open 24 hours.

Resort Location
Bedarra Island is part of the Family Group of Islands, located off the Tropical North Queensland coast. Midway between Townsville and Cairns. Close to neighbouring Dunk Island.

Tropical climate with an average year round temperature of approximately 29° Celsius (85° Fahrenheit).

Access
* Daily scheduled flights are available from the major capital cities to Cairns Domestic Airport (CNS). This is followed by a scenic 40 minute flight to Dunk Island (DKI)*where the Bedarra Island launch awaits you on the jetty for a 15 minute transfer to your private island.
* International flights arrive direct into Cairns International Airport (CNS) with transfers to the domestic terminal.
* A variety of charter flight services are available for that special itinerary
* Water transfers can be arranged from the mainland township of Mission Beach.

Dolphin Feeding
The highlight of any stay is the opportunity to interact closely with nature. Each evening the Tangalooma Dolphins eagerly swim up to the beach, adjacent to the well-lit jetty, where they are hand fed fresh fish by our Marine biologists, their staff and Resort guests.

The accommodation is all 2 and 3 bedroom units and penthouses - and all have water views. They are spacious with ensuites and bathrooms, private balcony or terrace, which is suitable for disabled persons. The kitchens are well equipped and furnishings are stylish and comfortable.

Within this landscaped, gum-treed retreat is a tennis court, putting green, salt water pool and sauna. Each unit has its own lock-up garage and there is parking for boats.

Nearby are golf, bowls, clubs, art gallery, shops and restaurants.
Brisbane and the airport are less than 70kms to the south.
